Good health supports successful learning. Successful learners support health. Education and health are inseparable. 

 

Our Primary PE mentor, Chris Pemble, provides weekly support as our in-house Primary PE specialist. Along with five other local Primary Schools, Chris has been employed to help us continue to develop the confidence and competence of all teachers in delivering high quality PE lessons. He will also help support the engagement of all pupils in healthy and active lifestyles in an effort to foster a lifelong participation in regular PE and physical activity. 

We have been a Gold School Games Mark school for the past 5 years straight and we are aiming to be a Platinum l school by the end of this academic year.

The PE curriculum is taught and planned for using the tool GetSet4PE.  Below is an overview of our whole school curriculum.

We have one indoor and one outdoor one-hour sessions of PE per week in Key Stage 1 and 2.

Alongside our regular PE lessons, we aim to provide our children with a far more varied selection of sporting activities across the year. We have BMX and Scooter workshops, climbing wall days, caving experience days, whole school golf days and top up swimming lessons to name a few.

We are members of the North Oxfordshire School Sports Partnership which enables us to provide high quality teacher mentoring as well as training for other staff. We also attend all NOSSP intra school competitions which allows for many children to compete against other children from other schools in a wide range of sports and competitions.

We also provide many sports based after school clubs including a free Banbury United football coaching club.

We are developing a games rich lunch break for the children through the support of our lunchtime games coordinator Ryan, from Banbury United Football Club. He runs games and activities each lunchtime (Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri) for all the children in KS2.

Forest School is offered within the school day but it is also offered at a weekly Forest School club at lunchtimes as well.
