Governor Information


Martyn Simmonds - Chair of Governors

Term of Office - Martyn joined the Governing Body in 2017.  

He qualified as a teacher in 2000, following 20 years in business management.

Martyn has worked at Orchard Fields Community School for more than 15 years as a part-time teacher and intervention tutor. Now, on retirement he welcomes the opportunity to contribute as a Governor to the continued success of the School.

Claire Chaundy - Parent Governor

Term of Office - Claire joined the governing body in 2017

Claire has two children who attend Orchard Fields Community School and her eldest daughter has now moved on to secondary school.

Claire helps her partner to run a local Air Conditioning business smoothly and have also been a qualified hairdresser for twelve years.

Claire thoroughly enjoys spending her spare time helping out with school trips and has got to know many of the wonderful and polite children of Orchard Fields - this was her drive into becoming a parent Governor.

Claire's main governor responsibilities are supporting health and safety.

Elaine King - Governor

Term of Office - Elaine joined the Governing Body in 2017.

Elaine is a qualified Social Worker and for the past seventeen years has worked at Banbury Academy where she is the Welfare Manager.  Elaine has three children aged 7, 11 and 23.

Elaine's main governor responsibilities are Safeguarding and Health & Safety. 


Jeannette Law - Co opted Governor, chair of the Curriculum Committee 

Term of Office - Jeannette joined the governing body in 2008, originally as a Community Governor  

Jeannette is a former Junior School teacher (in Dagenham for 9 years). 

For the past 14 years she has been working as the Children and Families worker for St. Paul's church, Banbury.  Orchard Fields Community School is in the Parish of this church.


Joe Walsh - Chair of the Finance sub-committee

Term of Office - Joe joined the governing body in 2011.

Joe works on multi-national projects for the Blavatnik School of Government.

Joe's main Governor responsibility is finance.

He has two fat cats and definitely enjoys cycling up the hill to the school for meetings!


Tom Halford - Staff Governor 

Term of Office - May 2020

Tom has been a Primary teacher since 2014 and has taught in both Oxfordshire and Essex. 

Tom currently leads Maths and Computing within school. When he is not teaching, Tom is either running or competing with his local judo club.


Sean Woodcock – Governor

Term of Office – July 2020

Sean was born and raised in Banbury attending local schools.

He has been a Town and District Councillor for the area surrounding the school since 2012.

He currently works in social housing but previously worked in education.
